It is a known fact that Indian markets are heavily dependent on FIIs investment. Year 2011 has not seen much of action because they have only invested so far USD 2437.6 million in equities and we are shocked because rupee has appreciated considerably against the dollar. As we all know that with rupee's appreciation, we see FIIs returns in dollar terms move up northward.
However analysis of last year reveals that major investment from FIIs came in second part of year. In 2009, 63 per cent of the total investments came in during the last five months, while the figure stood at 57 per cent for 2010. Now we can only keep our fingers crossed and hope that we have fresh inflow from Fiis in balance of year which will give a new lease of life to Nifty and Sensex.
